Jesse-Blue "Oak" Forrest - (Walking Thunder), of Cherokee (Southern Iroquois) and Celtic heritage was born June 18, 1948, in the Southern Appalachians. He is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States (Turtle Island).

Walking Thunder is an international peace activist, visionary, storyteller, flute player. He is the founder of the White Roots of Peace Circle - Turtle Clan, Rainbow White Horse Band of the Mother Earth Tribe, which offers medicine wheel gatherings, teachings of The Great Law of Peace – The Iroquois Constitution. Walking Thunder is also the founder of the Tree of Peace Unity Walk that is planting 44 Trees of Peace in communities across Canada. He also has a vision of building a Peace Village. This Peace Village offers training for Peace-Earth Walkers on the land; bringing indigenous and non-indigenous people's to walk hand-in-hand together for the healing of our past and for the healing of our Mother Earth.

Walking Thunder is a dedicated Medicine Wheel facilitator, teacher, and Elder. A world leader in nonviolence, he inspires movements for peace through Peace Walks, campaigns, lobbying, and education. In 2013, he was recognized as a certified Gandhian leader by the Sabarmati Ashram, India, the home of Mahatma Gandhi. He received this designation for his walk re-tracing the steps of Mahatma Gandhi’s Salt March.

Walking Thunder's pursuit of indigenized education began in 1988 when he started an apprenticeship under Sun Bear – Ojibwa, who placed him back on the red road. In addition to his traditional grandmothers, other notable spiritual leaders, and teachers he has studied under include, Red Eagle – Choctaw, Bear Heart – Muskogee Creek, Rolling Thunder - Cherokee. He is grateful for the teachings and wisdom of the indigenous elders and continues to learn so that he can teach others.

Walking Thunder has been certified by the Indigenous Certification Board Of Canada ICBOC - Approved Trainer with two levels of Medicine Wheel facilitation and training. For the past 25 years, he has been dedicated to sharing the wisdom of the Medicine Wheels with people and organizations across Turtle Island and internationally. Since 1992, he has built 30 Medicine Wheels around the world, born from a vision that he shared with Sun Bear of 70 Medicine Wheels across Mother Earth. He continues to build and hold Medicine Wheel gatherings and teachings for international communities for world peace and the healing of Mother Earth. His most recent work was in collaboratively building Medicine Wheels in the four directions of Iceland and the center of Iceland. His life’s vision is to build Peace Villages in Ontario and British Columbia, Canada, Iceland, Costa Rica and New Zealand to bring the teachings of Mother Earth Spirituality onto the land.
