PETITION TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS

IN PARLIAMENT ASSEMBLED

We, the undersigned, citizens or residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House to the following:

THAT, the vision of the Tree of Peace Unity Walk is to bring Canadian First Nations People and non-indigenous peoples of all walks of life together to walk hand-in-hand for the healing of our past, and move forward. 44 Trees of Peace will be planted in communities across Canada during the Tree of Peace Unity Walk, with the call for each provincial parliament to have a Tree of Peace planted on parliament grounds. The Tree of Peace Unity Walk calls for the planting of a National Tree of Peace (White Pine) on Parliament Hill, Ottawa, at the conclusion of the walk.

THEREFORE, your petitioners request the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to plant a National Tree of Peace (White Pine) on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, with a commemorative plaque, in cooperation with the Tree of Peace Unity Walk at the conclusion of the Walk.
